Consumer Legal Collections Hood and Stacy

Our Collections Department consists of attorneys, legal assistants, and support staff that are extensively trained and experienced in retail, commercial, health care, banking and municipal legal collections. Debt collectors use various forms of illegal intimidation, including talking with friends and employers about a consumer’s debt without permission from the debtor; making harassing or abusive telephone calls; threatening to take actions that are illegal or not intended; and suing on debts that were paid or not owed.

Top 5 Debt Collection Rights for Consumers

1. No Early Morning or Late Night Calls
2. No Calls at Work, Once You Request It
3. No Verbal Abuse
4. No Collecting on a Debt Larger Than the Consumer Actually Owes
5. No Dire Threats

If a consumer has any problems repaying their debts, the first thing to do is to contact the creditors immediately. If they do not make an alternative payment arrangement with the creditor, the creditor can hand the matter over to a debt collector or lawyer who will take legal action against the consumer to recover the money owing. If this happens the consumer will end up paying much more for the debt, because of extra interest and legal charges,  and will definitely be worse off than before.
